Still a useful book 226 years later. Admittedly the weather forecast are not reliable or relevant. However there is a wealth of knowledge contained in this book that is useful for any household. I find the astronomy and astrological data helpful, along with cooking and gardening tips. I also really enjoy the calendar pages and historical data they contain.Good old staple, wide variety of articles My family has traditionally bought this magazine for decades. But, I have to admit, we don’t actually use it too much for frost dates and the weather. For us, its real value is all the articles on every topic a nature-oriented person could want, and there is typically something for everyone. The 2019 issue is packed with good ones, again. For instance:Gardening – green thumbs for frustrated gardeners, facts and folklore about beesCooking – edible flowers, pickling, recipes, making sausage at home, how to grow and dry herbsCollecting – duck stamp dynastyAnimals and nature – do you know a mockingbird (?), dogs are the best medicineFarming – the pros and cons of backyard livestock, planting by the moonSports – the New York Mets in the 1969 seasonFeatures: 7 farm families; Stapp and his seat belt legacy, 2018 essay contest winnersAstronomy – astrology/astronomy and the Zodiak, solar flares, full moon effects on healthGeneral: weather forecasts, transit times for stars, skywatch, tides, etc. Enjoy.Too many ads & not enough stories to read. This version of the Farmers Almanac was very disappointing. It was mostly ads. Won’t buy it again.
